TORONTO - The request for proposals stage has closed for short-listed companies to submit bids to design, construct and provide construction term financing for Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games venues.

The Games venues include:

  • the City of Hamilton's soccer stadium, the host venue of the soccer competition;
  • the Town of Milton's velodrome, the host venue of the track cycling competition;
  • York University's stadium, which will be used for athletics competitions; and
  • The City of Toronto's tracks at the Toronto Track and Field Centre, Birchmount Park Stadium and Centennial Park Stadium, which will be used as warm-up and training facilities during the Games.

A request for qualifications issued in February 2011 short-listed three teams with the design and construction capability, experience and financial capacity to undertake a project of this size and complexity.

Over the next few months, Infrastructure Ontario and its partners will evaluate the bidders' proposals based on criteria set out in the request for proposals issued in September 2011.

The successful project team will be selected and announced in late summer 2012. Construction on the venues is expected to begin in late 2012/early 2013 and be completed in 2014. The contract value will be announced publicly following financial close.

Infrastructure Ontario and TO2015 are working with municipalities in the Greater Golden Horseshoe, universities and provincial agencies to procure and deliver the Athletes' Village and Games venues, such as the Markham Pan Am Complex and University of Toronto (Scarborough) Pan Am Complex facilities.
