    Surveys and Geomatics

    The Surveys and Geomatics Unit produces numerous mapping and cartographics products for both its internal and external clients using the latest GIS software.  In addition, the Surveys and Geomatics Unit creates and maintains mapping of all MOI real estate assets. The summer position will assist with the creation of customized mapping products and maintain the mapping databases by loading the data into the GeoPortal.

    • The summer student will work in the Surveys and Geomatics department to create customized mapping and cartographic products for its clients.
    • The summer student will work in the Surveys and Geomatics department to maintain the spatial polygons found in the IO parcel layer in support of the data quality of the geographic database. 

    Requirements:

    This position may be suitable for College or university student in enrolled in a degree/diploma in Geography or Geographic Information Systems. We are looking for:

    • Experience with ESRI ArcMap 
    • Experience working with computers (IBM-PC or compatible) and have good file management skills
    • Experience with imaging software and hardware such as Photoshop, Next Image; GIS applications – ESRI; Microsoft Office applications – Excel, Access, Word; and Microsoft Windows 2007
    • Working knowledge of CADD software (AutoCAD/Microstation)


    • Marketing

      Playing a key role in providing support to the Marketing team the associate will help manage and maintain the customer database and assist with research on current and newly expanded client sectors. This valued team member will also provide assistance to organize conferences, monitor marketing campaigns and develop marketing materials.

      • Research and develop client profiles and marketing collateral
      • Conduct market sector research
      • Assist with website and online application content functionality audits
      • Assist with advertising planning
      • Conduct client research and update contact management

      Requirements:

      This position may be suitable for a 1st or 2nd year student in the marketing or business stream. We are looking for:

      • Advanced level skills in Microsoft Word/PowerPoint/Excel
      • Solid research skills and excellent interpersonal skills
      • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
      • Some knowledge in desktop publishing applications such as Adobe In-Design, Photoshop and Dreamweaver is an asset
      • Able to work with minimal supervision


      Commercial Underwriting 

      We are looking for a Summer Associate to join our Commercial Underwriting Team. The Summer Associate will have the opportunity to assist colleagues with the review of financial business proposals seeking construction and long term financing of challenging infrastructure projects. The Summer Associate will also be in a position to provide support to the Natural Gas Grant Program (NGGP).  

      • Assist in the interpretation of financial statements and review of third party reports in support of active commercial loan applications
      • Monitor and maintain weekly reporting activities
      • Support the completion of annual reviews of municipal and commercial credit facilities
      • To provide support to the Natural Gas Grant Program (NGGP)
      • Perform other duties as required

      Requirements:

      This position may be suitable for a student enrolled in final two years of a bachelor degree (preferably majoring in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration). The ideal candidate would be interested in working towards a CMA or CGA designationin the marketing or business stream. We are looking for:

      Realty Optimization & Specialized Portfolios 

      The primary business needs for this position are to:

      • Provide research due diligence and advisory support for current Provincial real estate initiatives
      • Provide research to inform decisions about specific assets and inventory types located in diverse markets across the Province
      • Assist in business case development in regards to ministry-specific accommodation initiatives
      • Gather information to prepare reports about portfolios and assets 
      • Provide reporting and process support for data management activities
      • Provide administration and project management support for realty rationalization, land use planning and divestment pipeline projects

      Requirements:

      This position may be suitable for a student with knowledge of real estate fundamentals, land use planning, and financial analysis. We are looking for:

      • Effective project management skills with focus on real estate optimization and portfolio development
      • Knowledge of real estate financial concepts and ability to analyze financial information
      • Excellent communications skills, including report writing; and solid research skills
      • Strong analytical and data manipulation skills with clear understanding of business practices; and comfort dealing with statistics and technical data
