KINGSTON - Infrastructure Ontario and Providence Care have selected Integrated Team Solutions as the preferred bidder to design, build, finance and maintain Providence Care Hospital.
The selection of Integrated Team Solutions is the result of extensive evaluations following an open, fair and competitive request for proposals process that began in December 2012. Integrated Team Solutions includes:

- Facilities Management: Johnson Controls
- Financial Advisor: Scotia Capital
The new hospital will be a state-of-the-art health care facility for residents of Kingston and surrounding communities. Services and programs from the St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital site and the Mental Health Services site of Providence Care will be relocated into the new hospital to offer a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient programs.
The new hospital will be designed and built to enhance the experience of patients and their families. Single inpatient rooms that meet current infection control standards with adjacent therapy and treatment spaces will allow patients to receive care closer to their rooms. The new hospital will also feature on-site inpatient and outpatient clinics as well as improved teaching, learning and research facilities that will support Providence Care's role as a major centre for health education and research.
The project will incorporate sustainable design and construction features, with the goal of achieving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Silver certification. LEED® buildings focus on healthy indoor environments, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and efficient use of energy, water and other resources.
Infrastructure Ontario and Providence Care will now work to finalize contract details with Integrated Team Solutions. The project is expected to reach commercial close and financial close this fall, which will mean that relevant contracts have been signed and a financing rate has been set. The contract cost will be announced publicly following financial close.
Construction, which is expected to begin in late 2013, will create jobs in the community and will stimulate economic development in the region.
Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care are working with Providence Care to build the new facility, which will remain publicly owned and publicly controlled.
