KINGSTON - Integrated Team Solutions, Plenary Health and Providence Alliance for Caring Environments are the three companies shortlisted to submit proposals to design, build, finance and maintain the new Providence Care Hospital. The new hospital will provide a 270-bed state-of-the-art care environment for patients and clients and a modern, improved work environment for physicians, staff and volunteers.
Based on a request for qualifications process that began in March 2012, the three companies were shortlisted and will be invited to respond to a request for proposals, expected to be issued in fall 2012. Each company includes a developer, design and construction firms, and a financial advisor:

Additionally, the Ontario government recently approved a long-term lease of land to Providence Care to enable the redevelopment project to proceed.
Infrastructure Ontario worked closely with Providence Care to select the qualified teams. Companies were selected based on their development, design, construction, financial, and facilities management capacity to undertake a project of this size and complexity.
The new hospital will include single inpatient rooms that meet current infection control standards and adjacent therapy and treatment spaces that will allow patients to receive care closer to their rooms. It will also feature on-site clinics for inpatients and outpatients and improved teaching, learning and
research facilities that will support Providence Care's role as a major centre for health education and research.
The project will focus on sustainable design and construction, with the goal of achieving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Silver certification.
Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care are working with Providence Care to build the new hospital, which will be publicly owned and publicly controlled.
