The new facility's features include:
- increased capacity of up to 305 inpatient beds and all associated support services
- expanded outpatient clinics for psychiatry, diagnostic imaging and medical services
- the McMaster University Department of Psychiatry
- a design that supports patient and family-centred care
- approximately 800,000 square feet of new construction
- innovative research and academic spaces

- Expanded and enhanced services for patients with long-term needs and outpatient/community based programs
- Services include assessment, treatment and rehabilitation
- Increase in private and semi-private rooms designed to maximize patients' access to the outdoors

- Labour was drawn largely from Hamilton and the surrounding communities.
- At the peak of construction, more than 650 workers were on site daily.
