Hospital addition completed ahead of schedule and within budget

WINDSOR, ON - Windsor Regional Hospital, Bondfield Construction and Infrastructure Ontario are pleased to announce that substantial completion has been reached on the hospital's redevelopment and expansion project, ahead of schedule and under budget

Bondfield Construction was selected to build and finance the hospital redevelopment project and began construction of the new facilities in June 2009. Through this project, a new long-term mental health building opened in September 2011 and renovations were recently completed to more than 35,000 square feet of space in the hospital's Tower Building.

At the peak of construction, approximately 140 construction workers were on-site daily, creating local jobs for Windsor families. Throughout construction, an average of 80 per cent of the construction workforce was local.

With the redevelopment project substantially complete, Windsor Regional Hospital is finalizing occupancy plans for the newly renovated space within the Tower Building, which will house inpatient rehabilitation services beginning in July 2012.

Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care have worked with Windsor Regional Hospital and Bondfield Construction to manage the construction of the facilities, which will remain publicly owned, publicly controlled and publicly accountable.

Infrastructure Ontario is a Crown corporation dedicated to delivering some of the province's larger and more complex infrastructure renewal projects, on time and on budget; managing one of the largest real estate portfolios in Canada and providing real estate services, such as asset management and property and land management; and providing the public sector and not-forprofit organizations with long-term financing to renew public infrastructure.
