TORONTO - On behalf of Infrastructure Ontario (IO), SNC-Lavalin O&M has invited prequalified contractors to bid on three major work packages for the Whitney Block rehabilitation. 

The Whitney Block, one of Ontario's oldest government office buildings, is undergoing rehabilitation work that includes installing energy efficient windows, updating the ventilation system and repairing the façade. 

The rehabilitation will be completed in phases and tenants will be relocated to temporary workspaces within the building while the work is being completed. The contracts are expected to be awarded in early 2017. 

IO oversees the procurement process on behalf of the government and provides project management oversight. SNC-Lavalin O&M is the project management service provider for the Whitney Block rehabilitation.

The prequalified contractors were selected following an open Request for Qualifications process. 

The following prequalified general contractors were issued tender documents:

  • Brown Daniels Associates
  • Buttcon Ltd.
  • Limen Group Construction
  • Elite Construction Inc.

The following prequalified stone masonry restoration contractors were issued tender documents:

  • Phoenix Restoration
  • Clifford Restoration Ltd.
  • Limen Group Construction
  • Colonial Building Restoration

The following prequalified exterior window replacement contractors were issued tender documents:

  • C3 Polymeric
  • J. McBride & Sons Ltd.

  • The rehabilitation of the Whitney Block is part of the Queen's Park Reconstruction Project, an initiative which also includes the extensive reconstruction of the Macdonald Block Complex.
