Since 2005, Infrastructure Ontario (IO) has partnered with Ontario’s universities (and their affiliated colleges) to provide access to affordable financing for capital investments that support their position as world-class educational institutions.
With a convenient online application, no additional fees and flexible terms, our loans provide affordable access to the capital markets for those who are otherwise unable.

Eligibility

Eligible Projects
IO loans can be used for any capital investments, including:
- Construction or renovation of facilities (labs, recreational facilities, libraries, residences etc.)
- Energy efficiency projects (windows, doors, lighting, etc.)
- Water, hydro, HVAC and communications systems
- Accessibility improvements
- Vehicles and maintenance equipment
- Double cohort expansion projects
- Daycare projects
Please note: universities and federated and affiliated colleges can borrow to refinance capital projects (such as double cohort expansions) undertaken between January 1, 2002 and December 31, 2003.
Rates and Terms
IO’s lending rates provide equitable access to affordable financing for all clients. Lending rates are based on the credit strength of each sector. To view today’s lending rates, click here.
Clients may select repayment terms of 5 to 40 years; but in any event, the repayment period must not exceed the expected life of the capital asset.
