This page includes links to directories of available infrastructure funding as well databases of awards made by various grant-making institutions. Please follow the links to the individual programs or organization websites for useful information about these funding opportunities. An Infrastructure Ontario loan may be used to supplement any unfunded portion of eligible capital expenditures.

Infrastructure Ontario does not specifically endorse these programs; however, they are listed in an attempt to provide clients with information to meet their infrastructure needs.

Broadband Canada: Connecting Rural Canadians
(Industry Canada)

Four-year, $30 million program that aims to address the broadband gaps in rural, southern Ontario in partnership with municipalities and with involvement from the telecommunications sector.

Building Canada Fund - Communities Component
(Government of Canada, Province of Ontario)

Developed to accelerate infrastructure projects in small communities, these projects are cost-shared on a one-third basis among federal, provincial and municipal counterparts.

Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program
(Ontario Power Authority)

Incentives available for pre-approved projects that result in measurable reductions in electrical peak demand. The program focuses on lighting, motors, heating ventilation and air conditioning and overall electricity systems.

Feed-in Tariff Program
(Ontario Power Authority)

A comprehensive guaranteed pricing structure for renewable electricity production projects. It offers stable prices under long-term contracts for energy generated from renewable sources.

Gas Tax Fund
(Government of Canada)

Supports environmentally sustainable municipal infrastructure projects that contribute to cleaner air, cleaner water and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. The Fund provides long-term infrastructure money to Canada's cities and towns.

The Green Municipal Fund
(Federation of Canadian Municipalities)

Provides loans and grants to municipal governments that provide leadership in sustainable development.

Green Infrastructure Fund
(Build Canada)

$1 billion federal fund providing support over five years for sustainable energy generation, transmission, municipal wastewater and solid waste management infrastructure.

High Performance New Construction
(Ontario Power Authority)
A collection of design strategies and technologies for reducing energy consumption, improving an indoor environment and minimizing the environmental impact of a building.
Infrastructure Stimulus Fund
(Government of Canada, Province of Ontario)
$4-billion federal Infrastructure Stimulus Fund that provides funding to provincial, territorial, municipal and community construction-ready infrastructure projects. Projects must be built from 2009-10 to 2010-11.
micro Feed-in Tariff Program
(Ontario Power Authority)
Intended to encourage the development of “micro-scale” renewable energy projects across the province. Owners of these projects will be paid a fixed price for the electricity they produce.
Load Management
(Ontario Power Authority)
Incentives for curtailment of electricity demand for industrial, commercial and institutional facilities.
Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Works with northern entrepreneurs and businesses to foster private sector job creation while supporting critical infrastructure.
Ontario Arts Council Currently offers more than fifty grant programs to individual artists, collectives, ad hoc groups and organizations in 12 sectors.
Ontario Arts Foundation An open fund which future income is used to support awards and programs for the arts.
Ontario Trillium Foundation Supports organizations in the arts and culture, environment, human and social services and sports and recreation sectors. Capital grants are available for renovations and equipment purchases.
PowerSaver Business Incentive Program
(Hydro One)
Offers financial incentives for the purchase of energy efficient technologies to help customers in the commercial, industrial, agricultural and institutional sectors increase their energy efficiency.
Rural Economic Development Program
(Government of Ontario)
Assists with the costs of projects that use partnership to create change, revitalize rural communities, make more opportunities to develop skills, and improve access to health care.
Social Housing Renovation and Retrofit Program
(Government of Ontario)
A capital grant program that funds the repair and regeneration of eligible social housing projects.
Toronto Arts Council Offers grants to Toronto-based non-profit organizations in a range of artistic disciplines.
