Location: Ottawa Project type: Build and Finance (BF) two hospitals: The Ottawa Hospital Queensway Carleton Hospital Construction started: January 2008 About the project: The Ottawa Hospital Regional Cancer Centre project will improve cancer treatment by expanding services and facilities at The Ottawa Hospital’s General Campus and adding a new satellite cancer centre at the Queensway Carleton Hospital. The project includes: The Ottawa Hospital project, which will: expand the existing cancer centre to provide capacity for eight radiation treatment machines and one standby machine provide additional space for a capacity of four clinics and 50 chemotherapy spaces The Queensway Carleton Hospital site, which will have: a new four-storey building space for three radiation machines, two clinics and 33 chemotherapy spaces Community Benefits: The region’s growing need for advanced-level cancer care services will be addressed. Access to lifesaving radiation therapies will improve. Wait times lowered for cancer surgery. Both hospitals remain publicly owned, publicly controlled and publicly accountable

Project Summary Price of Contract: $113 million The Ottawa Hospital: $46.7 million Queensway Carleton Hospital: $66.3 million Winning bidder: PCL Constructors Canada Inc. with financing arranged by TD Bank Estimated Value for Money Savings: The Ottawa Hospital: Estimated cost savings of $7.9 million (11.79 per cent) Queensway Carleton Hospital: Estimated cost savings of $10.7 million (11.73 per cent) Estimated Completion Date: The Ottawa Hospital: early 2011 Substantial Completion Achieved: Queensway Carleton Hospital: January 2010
