Position Purpose

Analyze and support monthly, quarterly and annual financial and management reporting. Support internal and external audit requests, and ad hoc financial analysis. Support continuous improvement efforts regarding the maintenance of the general ledger and chart of accounts, project management and reporting systems as well as the alignment of financial data within various information systems.

Key Function and Responsibilities

1. Support the monthly, quarterly and year-end Financial reporting, review and analysis for Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A).

  • Assist with the monthly and quarterly reporting related to service provider operations.
  • Prepare journal entries for various transactions to be approved and posted.
  • Assist with preparation of lead sheets for quarterly and year-end financial reporting.
  • Review and analyze operating statements that are prepared by service provider.
  • Provide analytical support to the realty division related from analyzing actuals, and budgets from Service Provider.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality of analysis within IO and ensure alignment of data within various information and reporting systems.


2. Funding Requests review and approval

  • Analyze and review service provider funding requests to ensure legitimacy and accuracy of expenses in, O&M, small works projects and reimbursable expenses and recommend for approval by VPs of Outsourced Real Estate Governance.
  • Liaise with Service Provider and VPs of Outsourced Real Estate Governance to resolve/escalate issues related to questionable funding items.
  • Participate in regular meetings with VPs of Asset Management to discuss service provider funding issues.


3. Support Real Estate division with business analytics

  • Act as the main point of contact for financial information related to Facility management financial analysis.
  • Work with the Portfolio analytics and the GREP reporting team to provide operational analysis and synthesize information to client requirements for dash boards or other reports.
  • Create ad hoc reports and analysis as required for internal uses.


4. Support Directors to implement changes

  • Assist with research for accounting issues, changes in accounting policies etc. to provide analysis and recommendation for financial reporting.
  • Identify possible process improvements to improve efficiency and effectiveness as a part of continuous improvement strategy.
  • Investigate issues within existing accounting applications, recommend improvements and help with implementing enhancements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education and Knowledge

  • Certified Professional Accountant (CPA)
  • Post secondary degree or diploma in Accounting.
  • Solid understanding of Public Sector Accounting standards and Real Estate Accounting preferred.


  • A minimum of 5 years' experience with corporate accounting or financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting, real estate accounting, and experience working with complex financial software.

  • Analytical skills to identify and assess and interpret financial information.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
