Conveyancer - Title Searcher

We are seeking a Conveyancer/Title Searcher to support Infrastructure Ontario's Legal Services Team's real estate activities (that includes the acquisition, disposition and leasing of real property) by providing title search and conveyancing services required to close these transactions and otherwise assist with and support the real estate related legal activities of Infrastructure Ontario.

 

This role will be heavily relied upon by our Legal Services Team to provide them with title searching and conveyancing support. You will be able to work independently to complete complex title searches in the Land Titles and Registry system, including critically analyzing the results, identifying title issues arising from the search results and providing a summary of relevant information. You will also be relied upon to provide them with transactional and operational support, including the coordination and preparation of relevant legal documents.

 

You must possess a minimum of eight years of relevant experience with title searching/conveyancing for commercial Real Estate for an in-house legal group or law firm. A law clerk designation is an asset but not required. You must have advanced knowledge of commercial real estate terminology and practices, title search methods and procedures, Land Registry Office operations and systems (including Teraview/Teranet), real estate transaction closing documents, conveyancing procedures, and a working knowledge of real estate related statutes. Knowledge of government structure, processes and operations would be an asset.

 

You have strong organizational skills and are able to determine work priorities and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment where you work well with others. You have excellent written communication skills and meticulous attention in proofreading and editing legal documents.

 

We seek an individual who has demonstrated tact, diplomacy, and superior interpersonal skills to liaise with our legal team, senior management, staff and external counsel on sensitive legal matters. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products, Teraview and electronic databases is a must.
