Senior Planner

The Senior Planner will provide impactful land use planning and urban design expertise to complex projects in the provincial real estate portfolio through professional analysis and advice, and by managing externally procured work, and being accountable for leading assigned special projects and strategic initiatives.


In this role you will research and interpret municipal and provincial land use planning policies, standards, and guidelines to protect government interests, prepare and advise on scope of work for optimal use studies, site selection and development feasibility assessments and planning approvals.  You will also manage planning consultants to deliver land use planning projects, meeting scope, budget and schedule, and to further ensure successful project outcomes, you will build and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships and remain current on emerging local and regional planning trends that may impact corporate undertakings.


You will have an Urban and Regional Planning degree, seven years of progressive planning experience and ideally be a member of the Ontario Professional Planning Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planners. To be successful in this role, you will have a thorough understanding of planning related legislation, and knowledge of the Ontario Municipal Board's process, and an ability to manage complex and large scale projects and develop high quality operational recommendations.


Employment in the Real Estate Division is conditional upon obtaining security clearance through the Program & Policy Enablement Branch, Supply Chain Ontario of the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services.
