About the Project

The project involved the construction of a seven-storey addition with capacity for 172 beds, and renovations to the existing facility. With the completion of this project, the Burlington community now has improved access to a larger, modern hospital and more single patient rooms. Across the hospital 70 per cent of beds are in single patient rooms, meeting the Ministry of Health’s high standards for infection prevention and control and quality patient care. The expansion enables Joseph Brant Hospital to meet the needs of a growing and aging population.

Economic Benefits

Approximately 250 to 300 workers were on site daily at the peak of construction. More than 50 per cent of the labour for the project came from the Burlington area.
