Features

  • A consolidated and expanded hospital to provide more beds; 
  • A new acute mental health unit; 
  • An expanded and renovated Cancer Centre, with: 
    • two new radiation bunkers 
    • more than double the space for chemotherapy treatment 
    • a specialized clinic area for pediatric patients
    • an overall environment that will enhance patients' privacy and dignit
  • An expanded Intensive Care Unit with more beds (from 21 to 33 beds);
  • Construction of a new, expanded 40-station, in-centre Kidney Dialysis Unit;
  • New 25-bed unit for inpatient pediatrics; 
  • A new unit for 32 medical-surgical beds. The new unit consists of more single and isolation rooms than has been typical in existing units.
  • Expanded and upgraded Central Processing Services, a key support to surgical services.

  • The redevelopment project has created a more family-oriented environment and improved patients' access to care.
  • The design and construction achieved the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Silver classification for incorporating environmentally sustainable construction practices and energy efficient design.
