Dear Valued Partners,
Infrastructure Ontario (IO) remains committed to working closely with the industry to deliver critical infrastructure projects while supporting a resilient, competitive and sustainable Ontario construction sector.
As we continue to navigate evolving tariff and trade pressures, IO is actively engaging with the industry to better understand potential impacts, identify practical strategies to minimize risks to project delivery and supply chains, and strengthen the long-term resilience of Ontario's infrastructure sector.
IO is also committed to ensuring compliance with the Buy Ontario Act and associated government policy. We will continue working closely with our partners to support adherence across our projects while managing the impacts of tariffs, trade pressures and other evolving economic factors.
I would like to reiterate IO's expectation that all project participants, including designers, consultants and contractors, comply with both the requirements and intent of the Buy Ontario Act. Project designs, technical requirements and output specifications are to be developed in a manner that promotes fair competition and does not create unnecessary supply chain restrictions, particularly those that effectively require suppliers to source materials from outside Canada.
For projects in active procurement, any concerns regarding designs, technical requirements or specifications should be raised through the established proponent consultation process, as this is the appropriate avenue for seeking clarification or identifying project-specific concerns.
For broader observations or market feedback regarding specification practices, supply chain considerations, tariff impacts, or Buy Ontario Act implementation, we encourage you to contact communications@infrastructureontario.ca. We welcome ongoing engagement and collaboration as we continue to assess market conditions and identify opportunities to improve project outcomes.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support in helping deliver infrastructure that benefits the people of Ontario.
Sincerely,
Angela Clayton
