• The expanded hospital offers the capacity for more emergency and ambulatory clinic visits and an increased number of inpatient beds. 
• Markham Stouffville Hospital achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED^®) certification for construction of the new addition.  LEED standards focus on healthy indoor environments, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and efficient use of energy, water and other resources.

• At the peak of construction activity, approximately 300 workers were on site daily, with 25 to 40 per cent of the workforce coming from the Region of York.
• The expanded hospital employs an additional 875 staff and attracted approximately 60 new physicians to the area.
