About the Project
In early 2017, Infrastructure Ontario (IO) began working with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Housing and the Ministry of Infrastructure, on the design of the Provincial Affordable Housing Lands Program (PAHLP). The PAHLP was one of the measures included in the Government's Fair Housing Plan, announced as a program to leverage the value of surplus provincial land assets across the province to develop a mix of market housing and new, permanent, sustainable and affordable housing. The program is being rolled out in a phased approach. IO, with its Broker of Record, CBRE, led the marketing of the identified sites. In April 2018, after a successful response from the market, the successful purchaser and leaseholder for the Phase 1 sites were announced.
- Dream, Tricon and Kilmer Group are the successful leaseholder for West Don Lands Blocks 8/20 and Blocks 3W/4W/7W. This area will be turned into mixed income rental homes for nearly 1,450 individuals and families, including retail space and a community hub.
- Canadian Real Estate Investment Trust (CREIT) and Greenwin Inc. are the successful purchaser for 27 Grosvenor / 26 Grenville. This site will be turned into a family-friendly mixed income community, with approximately 700 rental units, retail space and a daycare.
Phase 1 of the PAHLP pilot reflects 3 sites in the Greater Toronto Area:
- 27 Grosvenor/26 Grenville
- West Don Lands Blocks 8/20
