WAHA Field Hospital – Moosonee Campus
- Location:
- Moosonee
- Project Type:
- Alternate Health Facility (AHF) Rapid Build
- Infrastructure Type:
- Health Care
Background
Infrastructure Ontario (IO) provided Project Management and Contract Management services for the construct of a pop-up health facility for Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) at Northern College’s Moosonee Campus. The project was delivered by Colliers, as IO’s service provider under the Project Management Service Provider (PMSP) program.
Project Scope
The conversion of the 2,664 sq. ft space involved accommodation for a total of 22 beds, including six reserved for acute care. The hospital unit was needed to provide front line workers with the capacity to increase testing and care for patients infected with the virus, as well as to ease demand on existing hospitals and health centres in the region
Features
This project was completed on an accelerated schedule with the project reaching completion in 2-weeks. This timeline was achievable given the current PMSP contract between IO and Colliers, which allowed Colliers to quickly mobilize and start the project without ensuing a new project contract. Colliers and IO were able to coordinate the unit design and delivery of materials concurrently, using many local resources to meet the project deliverables and avoid transportation to the remote location of the site.
