About the Project

Infrastructure Ontario, on behalf of the Ministry of Infrastructure launched the first competitive process of its kind in Canada to select a qualified Satellite Internet Service Provider (Satellite ISP) to deliver satellite internet service to the province.

In November 2024, the Province announced a partnership with Starlink to use satellite internet service to bring high-speed internet access to 15,000 unserved and underserved homes and businesses, including in rural, remote and northern communities across the province where ground-based fibre connections are not feasible.

Satellite internet service is expected to become available for eligible communities beginning in June 2025. More details on the program and the registration process for eligible primary residences and businesses will be available in Spring 2025.
