Infrastructure Ontario (IO), on behalf of the Ministry of Infrastructure (MOI), has launched the first competitive process of its kind in Canada, which is intended to select a qualified Satellite Internet Service Provider to deliver satellite internet service to the province. This will support improved access to high-speed internet via satellite service to unserved and underserved homes and businesses across Ontario.

As a first step in this competitive process, IO has released a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to identify qualified Satellite Internet Service Providers (Satellite ISPs) based on their relevant capacity and deployment experience to deliver high-speed internet service through satellite.

Depending upon the market response and the outcomes of the RFQ stage, qualified Satellite ISPs would then be invited to respond to a Request for Proposals (RFP), which is expected to be issued in Fall 2023.

Interested Satellite ISPs must register with www.merx.com to download the RFQ.
